Today
Today, John, Mary Beth, and Eckhardt live respectable lives. Christopher Eckhardt works as a professor at Purdue University in Indiana. He received his PhD from from Hofstra University in 1994. (1) His interests "my general research interests involve the investigation of cognative, affective, and behavioral risk factors that relate to intimate partner violance etiology and intervention."To find more about the case I actually emailed Mr. Eckhardt and asked if I could ask him a couple of questions. Mary Beth Tinker eventually became a nurse and worked with the Veterans Administration. (2) She later wrote that it was “a privilege to work with our veterans who had sacrificed part of their lives.… I work with a lot of paraplegics and quadriplegics, and some of them were injured in the Vietnam War… So I don't have any regrets about it at all. I'm proud to have been a part of anything that stopped the war.” (3)
John Tinker and Mary Beth Tinker both continue to speak out in support of student rights and freedom of speech. Mary remains active in the Washington, DC, ACLU.
